To All who write,
or do graphic design,
or any kind of artistic expressions:
Photography, poetry, collage, digital arts, memes, graffiti, subversive guerrilla art, short story,
3D modeling, etc etc etc - potentially even including music, performance art, prank phone calls, or theater?
Even if you do None of these, there is still a way you can help - if you enjoy coordinating, scheduling, if you like following up on projects, contacting and bothering people, etc.
We are planing something that everyone can get involved in:
We want to do regular (likely monthly) periodicals - essentially a PDF zine: collective expressions around a central theme, to act as a representation of our efforts, ethos and community.
Themes will be something like "The Future" or "My Last Day In Prison," "Lost & Found," maybe "Possession," or "Calling the Boss Baby at 3AM," but actually probably not that last one.
We will be eliciting submissions from as many people as possible - this will be a great chance to participate in lending your voice, skills, ambitions, and talents to creating something collaborative.
Whether you have Any experience or not, whether you're 13 or 43, very liberal or very conservative, a secret Nazi or a secret Communist, this is your opportunity to lend a voice to your creative expression.
It doesn't need to be wholly original or brand new - if you did a science project in 8th grade that you want to submit, or your friend did a science project in 8th grade that you really liked, submit that too - we're going for a mashup, Fair Use / Transformative content / Creative Commons thing. If you want to submit the Mona Lisa, that works too - it will essentially be thrown into a hopper and remixed with everything else. This lowers the threshold for participation Considerably - if it's important to you, submit it, and it will show up somehow in one way or another. Even by just sending messages in this server/forum, you are participating - we'll comb through old messages for interesting opinions or content.
Here is a quick mock up I made to give you guys a sense of what we might be working with - the theme of this hypothetical issue would be "Continuity" - a word that is broad enough to interpret in a few different ways. Then we'll solicit work to compile for it - Again, this isn't a popularity contest and will not request hours of work, it's just a collaborative "potluck" production, you throw in what you can.
We will be making more announcements as this takes shape, but the rough plan is to have the first issue ready by early August (5th or 10th at the latest).
Again, whether you just showed up today or you've been here since we started the server, we're eager to see what you want to submit. No judgement.
